July 11th, 1945 - Today in 1945, Napalm powder is mixed with gasoline and sprayed on live human beings for the first time. This amazing feat is achieved by U.S. Army forces against the Japanese on Luzon in the Philippines. Napalm was developped in 1942 by Harward chemists lead by Louis Fieser for the US Army. It is a powder of coprecipitated aluminium salts of NAphtenic and PALMitic acids. Today Napalm has widely been replaced by Napalm B. Although both have almost nothing in common chemically speaking, it is still referred to as Napalm. The new mixture of benzene and polystyrene is more controllable and burns at temperatures 800-1200 °C. You can't stop progress... In grand Internet tradition, here is your recipe to produce this horrible substance: Take styrofoam, add benzene and gasoline; ignite; pour on [insert ethnic group here]. But be aware that the use of Napalm on humans has been banned by the UN in 1980.
